Finding Empowerment When You Feel Powerless

Healing from trauma can feel overwhelming--the world, in general, is overwhelming these days.


And overwhelm can quickly lead to feeling powerless, even helpless.


How can you find your center and move forward?


Start by reminding yourself of all that you have survived in your life--every traumatic experience, every terrible day--you lived through it all. Stay focused on the inner strength you've already shown that you have.


Then, connect to the present moment and ask, "What do I need right now, and how can I get it?". You can move through difficulties most effectively when you feel adequately resourced.


Once you are recharged, find your tribe--because empowerment is also about connecting to others. We are always stronger together, when we learn from and support each other. (For more on this subject see the April 12, 2025 episode of our podcast.)
